    Which do you prefer?

    I too like a bit of a challenge. Like to at least see a bird when I'm out but it is very true that having the ability to take a limit in less than a couple hours each and every day does kill a trip.

    First solo limit of 09

    I'm seeing the same thing in southern MN. Went out on opener and got a solo limit on some public land. Hit some private land yesterday (got limit) and saw 6+ roosters and 10+ hens. Not bad for all the crops still in. I think we will still have a good year even with numbers down.

    Corn harvest 2009

    South Central MN...moisture around 29% for corn. Still pretty wet but my family is done with soybeans and going to be hitting the corn today. We are usually in first and out first, most people around here still have soybeans in the field.

    Dogs are associative learners... Why not associate gunshots with birds? This is what our trainer did and recommends. Keep some dead pigeons or quail, toss one way out there and as the pup runs for it, showing interest, and is some distance from you, fire a shot from a blank gun.

    I got my Dad back into pheasant hunting after a 20+ yr break. Now when all the crops are out in southern MN and the equipment is put away it's all he calls about. I'm hoping to get my wife into it this year. She enjoys deer hunting and shooting some clays every now and then, so I'm sure it...

    I use a 30 ft cord. Much longer than that seems to get tangled around everything and get to be a bit of work out. The cord is really there to regain control when needed.

    Hello...

    Just wanted to see how many SW Metro people are involved here. I'm in Shakopee, have a 1 yr old GSP, with some basic training done and am looking forward to a great year. Anyone close that may want to hook up for hunting this season?
