Out of curiosity, how did the state of Kansas police NR hunters during turkey season?

    Coraville Lake

So far it looks like the spring has been favorable for the birds. How was the hunting last season in East Central Iowa?

    How was it?

I was referring to just everyday general positive information / stories, good hunt, bad hunt, kids first bird, drought conditions, etc...maybe I should have used the word positive not helpful. But when people start talking about ankle bitters, ( negative) it’s possible to end up with a leg full...

    How was it?

I’ve been hunting Kansas since the late 90’s. ( non resident) I’ve seen good years and bad years for both pheasants and quail. One of the things I’ve noticed recently on this forum is that 95% of the information is very helpful and 5% negative. I’d like to thank the people on here that offer...

    Coraville Lake

Has anyone hunted around the lake this year. If so are there any birds up there. I’ll be hunting west of there this weekend just thought I’d ask. Haven’t hunted there in about 10 years. Last time we hunted there, the phez population was way down.

    Summer Scouting

Well we finished the 3 day whirlwind tour around Kansas today and will be flying back to GA in the morning. We looked at a lot of walk-in SW, SC, NC Kansas and have made a note binder full of notes. We met several farmers with a couple hand shake invites to hunt this fall. We actually saw quite...

    Summer Scouting

We’re not walking any ground just riding around to see what’s planted, etc.... One thing I can say is that eastern Kansas is extremely wet. We drove 36 west to Mankato and there’s everything from flooded fields, corners that have been under water and 2 corn fields that look like they got beat up...

    Summer Scouting

My son and myself are flying to Kansas tomorrow for a long weekend of scouting WIHA for this fall. We normally hunt quail in NC Kansas, but this year we are going to go farther west hoping to find areas better suited for pheasant and quail. Hopefully all of the roads aren’t washed out. Do y’all...

    Any birds left

Hate to hear that. Hopefully the spring crow counts give some optimism heading into the breeding season

    Tough Winter

I now understand the damage that hail can do to wildlife. Yesterday I saw firsthand golf ball size hail falling for about 15 seconds. We had a tornado pass within a half mile of us and if it hailed like that for my period of time, there’s no telling how many quail / pheasant it would kill.
