    Rooster Roundup?

I went with a friend a few years ago. A breakfast to meet people. Lots of land to hunt and you don't have to join any large group. We had a great time and you can use the land all season. Your money benefits the rotary club. Our best field was a WIA bordering their land. Hunting is hunting

Staying in Buena Vista December 21-28

B.V. has some great trails for hiking and biking from downtown across the bridge and there is a huge trail network. Salida has the same kind of trail network across the bridge from their downtown. Also there are some good restaurants and breweries in both towns.

There is pay to hunt in Rocky Ford on Hwy 50. I've never been there but Google them and give a call.

So who is hunting this weekend?

We went out Saturday and Stan retrieved 2 limits of ducks and then on Sunday he flushed out 3 or 4 hens. We haven't gotten a rooster this year even though we've been close to many birds. Bob

Anyone giving it another go this weekend?

My wife and I went out Sat and the dog jumped 5 hens and we saw 1 other jump on the other side of a tree row. No roosters. On Sunday the wind drove us home after a morning hunt that we didn't see any birds but jumped a bunny and a huge jack rabbit. The two year old lab is turning out to be a...

    Reports from the Field

Went out east with my wife and son in law and a two year lab. Had a great time. The dog actually flushed a few and we shot a few and we also got into some ducks. All in all a great opening pheasant weekend. If you guys actually give up going on opening day it will be your loss. Bob

    Stan Lee's first pheasant

We had a good weekend. A little wind, a little snow, and a whole lotta walking. Stan flushed one and retrieved another. He's coming along well and it's good to be able to show him what it's all about.
