    My Feist/JRT "Bird Dog"

Oh and for what it's worth to any animal activists who strayed onto this forum by mistake lol- no birds were hurt in the taking of these pictures. They are out in the cage eating right now, waiting for their next free ride around the yard in the dog's mouth.;)

    My Feist/JRT "Bird Dog"

Thanks ya'll. She loves to go after stuff. She's a pretty good dog, but doesn't like to let me catch her outside. It's hard to not get mad at her when I finally catch her after calling her in and chasing her around for 10 minutes lol.

    Please Critique What I'm Doing

I posted some pics of the pup in another thread. I just wanted to say that blowing in the ear works. My only problem is I am playing with live birds (that are super quick) and so I have to have a hold of the bird before she releases. I believe if the birds were dead I could get her to drop...

    My Feist/JRT "Bird Dog"

Here she is about 10 weeks old. I've been raising a batch of Bobwhite quail with her. These little boogers are about 3 weeks old and super fast. They can also fly a good 10-15 yards if not more. Four times I've had a bird/birds escape and been unable to find them. And each time all I had to...

@Quail hound- It's nice to see another terrier guy in here. I've had Pit Bulls all my life and everyone of them has been just as you described. I considered getting a typical bird dog breed, but really wanted to stick with a terrier (that and the price difference helped me make up my mind)...

She's right around 9 weeks. I'll try the ear thing though, thanks.

Yea, so I've got a 9 week old Feist/Jack Russell mix that I am trying to turn into a bird dog. I also just hatched 27 Bobwhites two weeks ago. Anyways, we've been doing short obedience sessions followed by a little fetch (with a bird or with a sock) afterwards. I don't think she considers the...

    My bitch's nipples

It could be a false pregnancy, but often times my gyps tits have stayed bigger after their first heat with no other signs of pregnancy. I just chalked it up to her maturing (becoming a woman I guess lol).

    English Pointers

Yea, no doubt that is a great looking dog. I have raised Coturnix for a while but just switched to Bobwhite for the opportunity to hunt them and maybe sell more. I've got a small batch of 30 hatching Tuesday. I wound up getting a Feist/Jack Russell mix for free- just couldn't afford a real...

    Should I Woah Post?

Been around horses all my life (helped break a few), but I have never heard of this. I ain't doubting you one bit though- I could see it working. I will definitely pass that on.

    Feist/Jack Russell Bird Dog

I've been asking alot of questions on here about bird dogs in anticipation of getting one. I appreciate all of the good advice. I think most of ya'll are fixing to laugh at me, but I settled on a Feist/Jack Russell mix. Daddy (the Feist) is a jam-up tree dog (coon and squirrels). Momma (the...

    English Pointers

That's alright Wildcat- appreciate it though. I went on and passed on the pointer pups I was looking at. Momma was just a little too big for my tastes (Daddy was too, but that goes without saying lol). They were some good lookin pups though. I appreciate all of the perspectives thrown out...

    English Pointers

Nah, no names. I just know the parents hunt good. Heck, they don't even have papers lol. I've been around a fair share of hunting dogs, but none that do any field trialing or anything. I'm just the type of guy that if momma and daddy do what I want then I'd be interested in the pups. That...

    Small Bird Dogs

I like hearing that because I have even been considering a Rat Terrier. Decent ones are a dime a dozen down here and people are almost giving them away. You just got to make sure momma and daddy were hunting dogs. People underestimate these little dogs, but I know they can do alot of...
