I'm in the market for a new shotgun to use for Pheasant, Duck and Geese. My budget is around $1000 - what would you recommend for a versatile gun to hunt both upland and waterfowl?

I have the opportunity to hunt private ground in Rockham this fall and was wondering what to expect. Does anybody have any experience hunting this area?

Went to SE North Dakota duck hunting in November and was able to pheasant hunt during the day. I hunted all public walk in areas, and was able to bag a couple roosters, but nothing special.

I have no desire or plans to participate in any type of field trials. Range is another issue that I need to work on with my dog. The more he "gets it", the more he ranges.

I have a 14 month old lab, and last summer I sent him to a trainer for two months. I would like to send him back to a trainer for some refreshments later this year, and was curious if people would recommend using the same trainer, or somebody new.

How has the winter been so far in SD? Southeastern Wisconsin has been extremely mild, with very little snow. Hope it's similar to the West!

Honey Creek is definitely wet. Even with rubber boots I was having problems staying dry. I'll be out this weekend - black Explorer and chocolate lab.

Has anybody hunted Honey Creek in Burlington off Academy Road or Heritage? I saw on the DNRs website that they stock Pheasants at this location and would love to get my young dog out on as many birds as possible.
