Ness it has been awhile since i posted lol. I have been busy training my new gsp and that work stuff gets in the way too. We are headed out in the morning towards the Downs area to set up camp and battle the snow

I have been looking the extended forecast for the area we hunt for the opener and it is either calling for 55 degrees and sunny or 45 and heavy rain changing to freezing rain. It is 1000x's better than staying in a hotel. Sit by the campfire and drink a few beverages while we grill steaks. Walk 10 to 15 feet to the tents and fall asleep listening to nature. Wake up and watch the sunrise while we cook breakfast then walk across camp to our field. Pretty hard to beat.

Our group will be out there that weekend. Hard to break a tradition of going out there every year. There is a vast amount of wiha available out there. As long as you get to the wiha early you should be ok. Nothing really beats that area for scenery and habitat. Luckily the area we hunt we also...

For everyone that is coming to kansas to hunt, there are absolutely no birds in the western half of kansas. No reason to even make the trip. :D

Enjoy it turtle. You are exactly right, you never know when it will be the last opener. Over these lasts few weeks i have been reflecting on all the openers we went on together. I plan on using his shotgun this year during the opener just so there is a part of him out there.

That is exactly how i started. I was one of the bird dogs. I even remember finding a rooster nesting in a clump of grass that they walked past and pointed it out to them lol. Made many great memories with my dad and uncles over the thirty plus years i have been going. This year will be bitter...

We are headed there as well. We are leaving wednesday to set up camp. Same tradition 30 years in a row. Birds or no birds we have a great time.
