Thanks to everyone for their responses. Setter, if we have more than I can handle I might look you up for late season. Getting close to retirement and will need some fellow kansas hunters to share the fields with in the future.

    Marion

Long time viewer of the forum and I have learned a lot from all you "veterans". I have the opportunity to hunt around Marion and was just curious if any of you know much about the pheasant and quail numbers in this area?? The landowner is not a hunter but tells me the farm has good numbers of...

UGUIDE Hunt Aberdeen South Camp Week 9

So bob how was the hunting on the uguide property? Were bird numbers high? Would you have don better with a couple more hunters? It sounded like your success was not good due to spooky birds and you ended up knocking on doors for much better success. I am considering the uguide route but if...

    Heading to SD near Mitchell

citori, I just returned from my second trip. Hunting was tough even on private land for us around forestburg and woonsocket(25 miles north of Mitchell). We did find some CREP land just north and east of woonsocket that was not too bad. good luck

    Heading to SD near Mitchell

hunted 20 miles north of the mitchell area a couple weeks ago, however we were on private ground. Had a lot of success but I would say overall the bird count was down a little where we were at.

    LaCrosse Pheasant Reports

you guys crack me up. Do you really think that someone that asks about bird numbers around LaCrosse really thinks that someone will tell them "the field to hunt"? On the contrary I think most folks are simply looking for the negative information. Such as when I asked about the Lewis area. I...

    Pheasants/Quail around Lewis, KS

Not going to be able to scout ahead of season. Can anyone give me an idea of the number of birds compared to past years? Thanks in advance.

Numbers not near what we expected

We also hunted around Kinsley this year and have for the past 7-8 years. By far this was the worst hunting we have ever experienced. However, I saw more milo stubble this year than any other year. In my opinion the milo stubble is far superior cover than corn stubble. Therefore, I think the...

    Purchasing land in MO

you will look very hard to find a covey of quail around central missouri. However, I have heard of a few being found on farms specifically targeted on enhancing the quail population. For pheasants your only option would be preserve hunting.

    Pheasants/Quail around Kinsley and Lewis

Vagrousehunter, I will add that we did talk to some guys hunting WIHA and they said they found birds but they were so skittish they never got close. Good luck to ya!!

    Pheasants/Quail around Kinsley and Lewis

we hunted primarily field corners and cut milo fields. All crops were out, I will say that the cover was tremendously thick which probably made it tougher for the dogs.

    Pheasants/Quail around Kinsley and Lewis

Hunted this area over the week-end. Both pheasant and quail numbers were very low compared to the previous 5-6 years. 6 guys and 6 dogs killed 16 pheasants and 0 quail in 3 days on private ground.
