    Body Grip Trap. MN SF1325

The problem is that you haven't brought any facts or data into your side of the debate. You have stated that it was an inconvenience for trappers to lug cubbies a mile out, but never once acknowdged that a leghold is just as effective for coon or bobcat. I asked you to go through WI's fur...

there is no reason to ignore that WI has had their BG regs in place for 17 yrs with no further restrictions placed upon them. Heck, they are still even allowing bird dogs and shotguns over there

I respect your desire to have the last word and you are right, I can't speak for them but neither can you. the simple facts that their fur harvest reports are as strong as ever and that their license sales have not decreased, but increased...it would be pretty safe to assume that the regs they...

WI guys don't seem to have a problem doing it. Heck it was their idea WI traps have not had any new restrictions since the trappers there helped put their regs in place 17 yrs ago. Michigan has had their regs for over 5 yrs...no new restrictions. Just two examples.

Funny you should bring up cars. Even the driver of a car attempts to not kill a dog by swerving or hitting the brakes. Btw my dogs don't hunt in the road, so your car poses no danger to my dogs. I would call swerving or braking a preventative measure to avoid hurting a dog. Just like restrictive...

I don't understand why you continually ignore the fact that other states have minimized the risk of a dog catch in a BG while still allowing the BG to be used. A friend of mine last Dec was grouse hunting with his setter. His dog got caught in a legal baited cubby. Luckily he and his friend...

When comparing the dog death numbers to other states that use body grips with regs that restrict access to dogs that number is extremely high. MN reporting 6x the number of dog deaths that WI has This is not a ban on body grips. There is no reason that the same set for a raccoon should allow...

The MN Dnr has confirmed 7 dogs were killed in Body grips...all within 90 days of the MN trapping season. 2 more were released quick enough by their owners and revived by CPR. Trapping season is approx 6 months. In the past 18 months of trapping season, the MN DNR has confirmed 17 dog deaths...

My mistake, it was late last night..only 15 of the twenty dogs caught the first yr of the awning reg were in BG traps. And nine of them died. That doesn't sound a whole lot better "Since the trapping season began in October, the DNR has received 20 reports of dogs being caught in traps, 15 of...

The very first yr the "awning" reg was put in place, twenty dogs were caught. Nine of them died. Luckily some owners were close by and knew how to release the BG. Every single one of those sets were legal. Do you really call that "little to no issue"? If you do, you are part of the problem...

FCS Springer What about the public land sets? Do you think precautions like restrictive openings and further trap recess distance should be done their? That is land shared by everyone "COEXIST" Ppl don't have problems with trappers..no reason to be a victim. It's the regs. You can't deny WI is...

Lucky you were so close! A friend of mine take advantage of our mild winter for a December Grouse Hunt, his dog was caught in a body grip just 30 yards away from him. Was familar enough with how to release the trap and he's a big guy...still had to give his dog CPR. It was a legal set. I hunt...
