    Preferred Shotgun for Pheasant Hunting

    I'm no expert on the matter of shotguns or pheasants, and only have one option. I carry a Franchi Affinity 12, 28". Its a nice light weight semiauto, easy to carry, fits me great and swings nice. I keep a modified choke in it for pheasants.

    Last Weekend Report

    We had the same experience out there last weekend. Birds flushing at around 100yd. Only had one get up in range (flushed behind me). Lots of trucks out, every WIA property we went by had multiple vehicles on it (we just kept driving) and had someone come in and hunt the field we were on first...

    Who is going?

    Plans on Saturday thwart any opening day hunts. I may head out Sunday, but I'm a dogless solo hunter. I hit some fields at the end of last season with no success. I would hate to get out there and screw up some fields for people that know what they are doing. Besides, I may go for Duskies one...

    If you want to get into upland hunting, why wait to come to Colorado. I would look into the opportunities near you now and enjoy them while you're still on the east coast. Specifically Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock hunting. I know there are some pheasants out east too, but I'm not sure about NJ...
