    Steel Forks Pheasant

I agree. I have been a member for about 5 years now. They are great people. super friendly and just honest good people. I am always going out to train the dogs. The cover is amazing this year. Takes 45 minutes to get there from the springs. I really like the relaxed hunt at your pace...

everyone says my dog is too skinny?

Looks good to me. When I picked up my pointer the breeder/trainer told me when he turns about a year old you are going to want to call me thinking something is wrong because he will be so skinny. I guess its in his dads genes. Sure enough. Of course that boy has 2 speeds. full and point.

    Pointers and Flushers hunted together?

Mine experience is similar to 519vx. I ran my weim with my buddies Golden for several years. I was typically 3 or 4 of us with 2 dogs. We kept the golden on the side and my weim on the inside/middle. He didnt have a lot of range so it worked pretty well. After several times out it was funny to...

    First Field Trial

Well we ran our first field trial a week or so ago. A lot of really nice and helpful people. We ran the amateur puppy and just sucked. We ended up with a bye so no bracemate and it the pups first experience with horses so he was kind of not himself. In the afternoon we ran the open derby and he...

    Steady on point

I had a trainer show me a trick he uses once the dog is aware of what whoa means. He would take the electric collar turn it all the way down to one and put it on the dogs waist. When the shock is sent it is so minimal that the dog is not in pain but it makes them want to stop in their tracks. I...

    Beepers?

Anyone still use them? I need a new collar and I saw that sportdog has a new beeper combo that looks pretty nice. Just wondering if anyone uses one and what the advantages are if any instead of or with a gps?

    dog boots

check out ruff wear they have great booties for what your looking for. They actually have a vibram sole so they last and still give the dog some traction. I have used them with my weims for hiking 14,000ft peaks in colorado and hunting in burrs in Kansas.

    Fun out at Cobb SWA

Very nice!!! I love the look in his eyes as well. I have seen it many times. I love the look in the field and not so much in the house. Cant wait to get the pups together. maybe after the first of the year. We are meeting Ben next week for some training tips and he wants to check in on the pup.

    Good sign?

So the new EP pup just turned 4months and I took him to my nieces birthday party the other day. There were ballons everywhere and he started playing with one so I figured I would see what happens. Every dog I have every seen pop a balloon usually is done with them for the rest of their lives...

    Eating

in deep chested dogs it has been shown that eating to fast can be a cause of bloat. I split each meal into 2 meals. Say for breakfast I would give my weim half a scoop of food when they came in from outside and another half a scoop when I got out of the shower 15mins later. After a while the...
