Since it’s a waterfowl area there are limited areas open for upland right now. It usually depends on what cover and crops were managed by MDC this year for what part the birds are holding.

headed to nw mo in the morning

After 3 days in public field I've seen 2 coveys and probably 15 phez. Bagged 1 rooster and the smallest quail, felt bad when picked it up but flushing it looked normal so didn't chase the singles.

    Doves

First year trying dove. Will any of the northern CAs still be attracting doves. Was at Bilby the second weekend and not many moving and not a lot of hunters either. Opening weekend at Platte Falls was interesting to see. Any help appreciated.

    Opener

I was fortunate enough to spend the first week of Missouri season hunting in beautiful South Dakota. I never shot my limits but had lots of chances and my dog did awesome work. Now I'm hesitant to even hunt in MO however I still have the itch to get out and find a quail before the deer shooters...

    Hunting reports

Both had around 20 birds. The first covey was by an old dry pond and flushed wild to the other side about 40 yards away so we worked back to that side. My dog locked up on point and since I was at my friends farm I tried moving him into the best position for shooting and I walked into the brush...

    Hunting reports

What happened, Did everyone give up or shoot the last bird in MO? I got to chase quail on a private farm and it was awesome, I wish I had a video of it. The 2 biggest covies I ever seen and both hang out 400 yards apart!!

Dog tested positive for heart worms, season over:(

My brother's pointer had hookworms last year. I had never saw a dog so sick and loose weight so fast. He is already a small dog maybe 40 lbs but all muscle when healthy but after 1 day of worms he was a bag of bones. The bloody diarrhea on the tile floor looked like a slasher film. My gsp has...

    Hunting reports

I'm not having any luck like I did last year at this time. The 2 reason must be no snow and the second is I am seeing a lot more hunters out probably because of nice weather.

    Who's been quail hunting?

Saw 2 coveys today with 0 in the bag both on WIHA. The first was on edge of milo no more than 100ft from the truck and my dog was busy chasing 20 or so turkeys flying away and I walked through the middle of the covey. The second covey was under a cedar on a fence row and flushed easily into the...

    NE Kansas

I might be out there on Wednesday. I'm thinking of going out to Washington again and then working back toward Marysville. Temps suppose to be 10 degrees warmer than here in MO.

    NE Kansas Report

I had a pen raised quail loose in my garage and it took me 3 DAYS! to catch it. That sucker would get lost in all my junk and I would never see it again!
