My labs and I are pretty disappointed that we won't be able to make a late season sojourn to SD!
Just can't justify driving 800 miles to watch roosters out in the field with no way to get close to them.
I would enjoy seeing that ....instead might hafta spend gas money on a few game farm birds!
Thankfully I get to hunt private land in SD roughly 8 days every fall. Love every minute of it. Nothing like wild roosters.
Having grown up in SE SD I still have connections with farmers and therefore have places I can hunt. I have lived in Indiana for over 40 years now and I appreciate the...
Always a great things when a young man shoots his first bird (s)
I remember my son's first wild pheasant in SD like it was yesterday! He was 14 and his Gpa was there to witness it as well. :)
Great post! Thanks for sharing the pics... the smiles are priceless.
I got to hunt with my 28 year old son this year in SD! Always a great experience!
Hope to have the opportunity to hunt with my Grandsons some day!
great pics
Thanks for posting those great pics!
Spent 3 days hunting the pheasant belt...November 11-13.
Limited all 3 days with large group...but hunted pretty hard!
SD still has a lot of birds...hoping for a great hatch next spring!
Good luck for the rest of the season to all who are lucky...
visit to SD
Made a visit to the great state of SD to be with Mom for Mothers' Day! Did a little scouting in the Turner/McCook County areas. Certainly not a heavy pheasant population area...but was encouraged to see several hens and roosters. One morning my brother and I saw three rooster/hen...
One of my most memorable pheasant hunts in SD took place late morning after some snow and a light drizzle. My old lab and 4 others hunters harvested 13 roosters out of one 40 acre ravine that had tons of good cover! I think my old dog flushed everyone of them. He caught a young rooster on the...
Miller area
PheasantPhan,
Hunted around the Miller area a couple weeks ago and the bird numbers were good. Further south...not so good. As some have mentioned south of I-90 things are pretty tough.
Enjoy the great state of South Dakota and be safe!:)
