    Unexpected Pheasant

Not really certain yet. It's all pretty much open rolling pasture. At one point I wanted to get flight pens, etc. and really tailor it for bird habitat. My bird dog is getting pretty old now though and I'm not really sure if I'm going to get another one for a while. I have to recoop...

I have 40 acres, I left 20 of it un mowed and plenty around the perimeter in hopes of them staying. I just moved onto it two months ago.

    Unexpected Pheasant

I live in SW MO. About 30 miles south of Springfield. Buddy brushhogging on my land sent me this today. Kind of odd I thought, as I don't know of any preserves that are relatively close to my place. I walked out to look at this one and couldn't get a good look as it was pretty skittish and...

    Thoughts on 2021 in Missouri

I would really like to get a Missouri rooster - but I live in SW Missouri (Springfield) and if I drive 5 hours to hunt where they potentially are, I feel my time is better spent going out to KS or just on up to IA. Haven't hunted IA, but I would love to give it a try. On a side note, I bought...

    Numbers so far...

I was in this same area on Saturday. It was miserable. We didn't see one single bird in about 3.5 hours of hunting. Friday however, we flushed three hens and a young rooster in a field of thick grassy cover. One dog and two hunters.

    Roads

Yeah, I saw it moving through...we got snow here in SW MO too. However, that doesnt really answer my question about WIHA access roads. Are they mainly gravel type roads or is everything dirt roads up there? Sorry, I was mainly inquiring about the type of roads.

    Roads

I'm headed there this weekend, to Jewell county area. We plan on only doing WIHA's. Will the roads be decent around those? I've never been up there before, so not sure what to expect. Thanks!

    Checking in ...

They were rows of corn, I would say 30-50 feet wide and half a mile long. Cut on at least one side. He would run at least two dogs. We had gunner on each side and one in the middle and then a blocker at the end. When I hunted this past weekend in MO, it was me and one other guy with my one...
