    Ouch!

My dogs and I ran into one on the Cimarron last year on the last weekend of the season. The old female didn't get it to bad, I took care of her. The male decided to take a bite, and it took us to the vet, on a Sunday night. Nice bill, but worth it. Hope he has learned his lesson!

    Has it come to this?

My grandfather had the same experience. Guys were hunting pheasants and he stopped. He asked if they had permission to hunt, they said yes and to leave them alone. He simply remarked he didn't remember giving them permission. They left. This happened several years ago. Not sure what people...

    Woodcock?

Thanks for the feedback. I assume if we get a real cold snap any migrating will out the door to the south, but if we don't it would be worth a try. If I get the chance to check it out I'll give everyone the rundown.

    Woodcock?

I know this is a pheasant forum, and I know opening weekend for quail and pheasants arrives on Saturday, but have any of you hunted woodcock in SE Kansas? I'm actually thinking of giving it a try during Thanksgiving weekend if I have to go to the in-laws. I was thinking of the Mined Land area.

    Cimmaron Grasslands question

I haven't found them yet, but believe the grass is a key element. Not always a lot of grass, but scrub of some sort. They will eat grain, but forbs and weed seeds probably make up the majority of their diet since their isn't much grain on the grasslands.

    Cimmaron Grasslands question

Thanks, I have enjoyed watching for a while. We truly have a great state to live and hunt in.

    Cimmaron Grasslands question

I have attempted to chase them down there, with no success. Found plenty of Bob's, a few pheasants, but no scalies. Going to keep trying until I get it right!
