    Dodge City

Thanks for the responses. We spent the morning west of Dodge City, the first 3 spots we kicked up several hens and a small covey of quail. One group had about 20 hens in it. After that we worked north and didn't see much. We saw 2 roosters while driving and that was it. We talk to another...

    Dodge City

My brother and I are heading to the Dodge City area in the morning. First time we've been out west in quit a few years. No dogs and hunting public land, we're not expecting much. Just looking forward to getting out. I was wondering what you guys thought about the bird numbers in that area...

    Hays

Thanks for the information. With gas prices the way they are and no birds I think I'll set this year out.

    Hays

Has anyone had any luck around Hays this year? I have some ground north and west of there I can hunt but I'm not sure if it's worth the gas money. The bird numbers have not sounded too good this year.

I'll be coming out to Hays this weekend to hunt some private land. What is the bird population like out there this year? Thanks.

I have never hunted with my brother-in-law before. He has never hunted pheasants, so I'm curious to see how he handles it. He is a good guy, I'm not worried about safety, just would like to see how he handles himself in the field. We might have to catch up with you at some point.

    Kansas Governor's Pheasant Hunt

SEKHunter, I agree completely. Now that KDWP has commercialized deer hunting here in Kansas, it has become very difficult for many residents to find a place to hunt. Here in southeast Kansas, I have lost access to places my father learned to hunt on. The land is still owned by the same...

    La Crosse motel

The one on the south end of town is the LaCrosse Inn and the one on the north end is Green Acres Motel. I usually stay at Green Acres. It's always been clean but I've never seen dogs in the rooms. I'm going to be there over Thanksgiving and all they had left were a few single rooms. That was...

    LaCrosse Pheasant Reports

I don't see anything wrong with asking about info for a certain town. He wasn't asking for walk-in tract #'s or anyone's honeyholes. Not everyone can afford to drive out for a scouting trip, especially in this economy. If someone wants share info, that is their right.

    Which way to go?

We hunted the area between Great Bend and La Crosse this past weekend. We hit two walk-in spots first thing Sat, both has descent numbers of birds but they all flush out of range. Then we started knocking on doors. We got turned down a few times but we kept asking. Finally, one farmer let us...

    Snow

Is there any snow left on the ground around Great Bend from that last storm? How are the backroads looking?

    Which way to go?

Me and 4 friends are making our first trip together. One has never hunted pheasants and two have only hunted pheasants a couple of times a long, long time ago. We will be staying in Lacrosse. Looking for input on which direction to focus on. I have hunted south of Lacrosse down to Pawnee...

    Scott City

Does anyone hunt the Scott City area? I will be heading there the week after Christmas. I have never hunted that area. I have a little private land (not much) to hunt and it doesn't look like there is a lot of walk-in. Just wonder what to expect. Thansk

    Rush County report

There was actually 10 in our group, a few more than I expected. We did see more hunters than I expected for being the day after Christmas. We had a good time. I got to hunt with some friends I haven't seen for awhile.
