That's a shame. We used to get into them pretty regularly when I was going to school at Peru, and that was on private as well as public. Granted that was 15 years ago.

Took my son out for his first upland hunt on Sunday. He had fun.

Saw some on a property we used to deer hunt near Troy about 15 years ago, was deer hunting so obviously didn't shoot one. As someone else said, we used to run into a couple here and there on the north side of Perry.

This ^^^ Same can be said about the area we hunted last week in SW KS. And I should have had a limit of quail both days if I had shot better.

This was from Saturday in the SW part of the state. We got into plenty of birds when we found the right combination of cover and food. Friday we had 5 roosters and 6 quail, and saturday was a 2 man limit of roosters and 5 quail. Fun weekend for us. Two solid days of hunting was rough on my...

Lots!!! We didn't find any quail on two of our spots in NC KS on Saturday, and those spots usually have at least 2 coveys each. I don't think it's a coincidence that there are huge fields of standing milo directly adjacent to those spots. Of course the 30 mph NNE wind didn't help the dogs much.

Not in Hays, but the Days Inn in Russell was where we stayed this past weekend. Nothing fancy, but it was adequate. I think it was $10 per dog per night.

I got married in November of '11. My wife tried to pick 11/12 as the wedding date. I quickly convinced her that it was not a good idea.

Can't stand the big groups of opening weekend. Going duck hunting with my son around home this weekend. Couple buddies and I and their 3 dogs are going near Abilene and Russell next Friday and Saturday.

I'll be doing the same thing this fall. My dad was my hunting and fishing partner all my life and taught me most everything I know. He passed from ALS two months ago. Going fishing since then has been emotional for me, I imagine hunting will be the same.

I could be wrong, but I think these warmer temps have melted any snow that was left.
