Opener was a dandy for me. Went out solo with the lab and hunted a mix of private and public land. Should have had my first bird in the bag at 9:02, but my shooting was less the than sub-par. Moved a couples miles east and walked a field ditch next to standing corn, flushed 2 hens and a rooster...

Had some good luck last weekend out West of the cities South of Wilmar. 2 birds in the bag, and some sore legs. Wish I could figure out how to post pics here. Not real savvy in that dept. oh well. Gonna head out again tomorrow and see what we can find.

I have spent quite a bit of time in the Hutch area this year. Mixed success, seen a fair amount birds, very few roosters. But good for working your dog if you don't mind going home with an empty bag frequently.

Hit it hard Tuesday, West of the cities. Wind was brutal pushing 35mph. Birds a plenty. But very skittish in the wind. Ended up with 2 roosters for 2 guys. Not great, but seeing a lot of birds was encouraging. Hunted the Sleepy Eye area this morning. Again, windy and got shut out. Flushed 2...

Hunted west of Hutch today, kicked up 5 roosters and 2 hens. Didn't go home empty handed but we definitely didn't get our limit. Was encouraging to see as many birds as we did with the amount of crop still in.

Hey All, New guy on this forum from West Metro, MN. Been chasing roosters here for the last 6 years. Have gotten out a few times this year with my year old Lab who finished his training last spring. Excited to meet and hear how other folks are doing.
