    Snake Avoidance Class

Hey guys. I came across this post a little too late. Does anyone know of any snake avoidance classes coming up yet this summer? I checked out both sites in this thread, but didn't see any upcoming classes. I almost stepped on a rattlesnake over the weekend up the Poudre Canyon with my dog not...

    My 2014 dusky grouse opener

Thanks, it was fun to write! I'm not familiar with Tabernash, but quickly looking at it on a map seems like it could work. In my limited experience and extensive reading I've learned that this time of year, before a series of frosts, one should focus on the sagebrush/aspen interface. After a...

    My 2014 dusky grouse opener

Thanks! I've never had ruffed grouse, but the dusky's are ok. The key is to not overcook them (probably goes for everything), I kinda like 'em actually. :)

    My 2014 dusky grouse opener

After three different properties and several miles, we found 'em. My lab and I were working our way through the sage along the edge of an aspen island; lots of grasshoppers, oak brush, and forbs - just where my research told me I should be. But the going was tough and we hadn't found anything...

Paying for access - appropriate? how much?

Here's how we did. Again - I want to thank everyone for the input. What a great forum! This is a cross-post from the Nebraska forum. We (my wife and I and a friend and his wife) went out for the weekend to the SW part of the state (both wives do not hunt). I ended up NOT knocking on...

    Nebraska Opening Weekend Results

SW Nebraska Hunted Saturday and Sunday - all public land. Saturday my buddy and I put up ten birds (6 roosters and 4 hens) with three making it into the bag. Sunday, just me, put up five birds (4 roosters and 1 hen) with just one making it in the bag. Gotta work on that whole shooting thing...

Simply asking advice. No need to go all xenophobic on me.

Paying for access - appropriate? how much?

Thanks for the input - no cash sounds like the way to go. Maybe I'll stock up on a few six-packs....

Paying for access - appropriate? how much?

Hi all, I'm going for the Nebraska opener this weekend and am considering knocking on some doors, something I've never done before. With my out-of-state license plates and general lack of experience asking for access I was thinking I could offer landowners a few bucks. Any thoughts on offering...

    Colorado Chukar

From CPW meeting minutes.... Colorado Parks and Wildlife has an approved transplant project to bring wild-caught chukars into the Poudre River/Livermore area (GMUs 9, 19 and 191) beginning in the late summer of 2013. The goal of the project is to establish a self-sustaining, ultimately...

First Wild Rooster - First Post - First Mouse In Bird

Hi All, I'm been lurking for some time, but after today I have to post. Took the pup out to some WIAs and saw lots of hens, and of course a few roosters on private. Finally got a rooster near Haxtun that my Lab flushed out of a plum thicket. My first wild bird! I've shot quite a few pen raised...
