I posted in the SD forum too, but thanks for the tip. I posted in the MT forum thinking if someone was driving from the upper midwest or northeast through SD on I-90 it would be an easy deal for them. Most people coming to SD to hunt don't make it much past the Missouri.

Your looking at a minimum drive of an hour from Rapid to find birds. And those areas are not very productive and are heavily pressured. Two hours will get you into a few more birds. Honestly, if he has the time, hist best bet is driving 2.5-3 hours east of Rapid to prime pheasant country.

You can camp on any of the National Grasslands in South Dakota as well as on School land. If camping on school land it has to be low impact, no digging, fires, etc. Don't disturb livestock or crops, pretty much common sense. You cant camp on Game Production Areas or in Walk in Areas. In...
