Lets See Your Dogs..post some pic's

This is my dog trigger. 3 years old now. A few pics attached of him over the years. Even one of the softer side of him lol. High energy and always off the wall crazy but not when it's time to play with the girls, slows it right down. First GSP I have owned.... Never had a dog that will challenge...

    Wood duck boxes

Should I leave the box in this location or will the owl always be an issue here and not let woodies use the box? I have seen wood ducks where I have it, just a smaller swamp pond in the woods. Some pics of your boxs/set-ups would be great when you have time thanks.

    Wood duck boxes

thanks for response. the nest was shaped like a ball being more closed in on the top than bottom, picture makes it look a lot smaller than it is. probably alittle smaller than a volley ball. the hole in the front is 3hx4w does it not oval out enough? are they that picky or will that help...

    Wood duck boxes

So I decided to go empty the box out and have a look to see if I could tell what made the nest. Turns out it was an owl. I could tell by the scat left behind in the box. couple questions for you. Should the box be cleaned out every year even if a wood duck was the bird that used it the year...

    Wood duck boxes

This thread reminded me to open up my nest box and have a look while pond is still frozen. Turns out a woody did nest in there last year. But I don't see any egg shells, would the chicks have eaten the shells or maybe something else got in there and ate them, or should there be shells left...

    habitat plans

The location of the food plot in the pic is currently a food plot, the pheasants hit that daily right now, the feeder coming on there twice a day probably helps keep them coming though. That plot is on a slight hill kind of tucked in some tall trees. Pretty well protected from filling up with...

    habitat plans

Hey guys here is some of my plans. hope attachment works property lay out goes somewhat like this. About 30% is 6 foot brush that would be best described as very tough to walk through, 30% is waist high brush, 20% open with tall weeds, 20% large trees. for the nesting areas Im thinking wheat...

Firearm caliber for hunting with flushing labs

This runs along the same line as big game hunting Cal discussion. IMO the best cal for moose is .300. But some guys I moose hunt with can't get past the recoil of the .300. A well placed shot with a .270 is better than a miss (or wounding shot) from a miss placed shot with a .300. Just have to...

    Wood duck boxes

Great project with the kids, made one last year with my 4 year old daughter. Sure I had it all cut and pre-drilled so we just glued and screwed it together but in her eyes we built that whole thing together. I can't believe how well she remembered how the little baby ducks will climb out of the...

    problem hawks

Missed a lot while I was down and out for the day sick. But I'm back on a midnight shift at work so I got to catch up a bit. Glad to hear that RR tracks are a benefit as I'm surrounded by them, my property is a triangle with tracks down 2 sides and property beside me is the same thing. What I...

Shed Hunting - Tips and Advice

I am training my GSP to shed hunt, get yourself some shed antlers, some dokken rack wax and make a game out of it. biggest thing I found was you need to make your dog really love the shed antler, introduce it to your dog right and he or she will love any antler it finds and want to pick it...
