    Montana Teaser

Thanks! It was a great trip. I will definitely be heading back up to Miles City again next year. Montana is great and some of the BMAs are both huge and incredible. We hit our usual areas around Ft Benton and Lewistown, but wanted to hit some areas in eastern Montana. We didn't do much...

Made a trip up to Montana last week for some bird hunting, it was a good trip. :) We hit BMAs and some private land around Miles City, Wolf Point, Ft Benton and Lewistown. Ended up with quite a few birds - Pheasants, Huns and Sharptail Grouse. Took our Weim, Blitz along for the trip, after...

Woohoo!!! Congrats, and good luck! With the dog (Blitz) that I have at Hideaway Kennels - hopefully he will be ready for AKC Senior Hunter (Pointing) ... he honors and retrieves to hand, but he needs to be steady. We are working with our youngest "Cowboy" ... and will probably run him in...

Just checking in. The wet weather has potential to produce good cover. Fingers are crossed that we don't get any really bad weather in phez country. We have our 3 1/2 year old dog down at Hideaway Kennels getting "re-educated" ... he is all "go" and no "whoa" ... has been that day...

I was up in north-east Colorado a month ago. I have never seen it so green before. The spots that I cruised by had cover from last year and new tall grass was beginning to sprout. I live east of 76, and have been blown away by the height of the grass in our field. Some of the warm season...

anyone have a used starter pistol?

If you do have to go with new, consider buying something from Dogs Unlimited, based in Hudson, CO. At least the money stays local with a small company. Alan has a lot of my money. ;)

    Snake Avoidance Class

All 3 of our boys have been through it. One blinks the snakes ... no indication that there is a snake around, but casually avoids them. The other two both jump back if there is a snake around or act a bit anxious. Back at the beginning of April, I noticed that one of my dogs was acting anxious...

    2015 us drought monitor

I drove out to Sioux Falls last weekend, and everything was looking good. Along I-76, I could not believe the greenness, even in perpetually dry areas, which are usually best described as scrub brush surrounded by dirt.

It will be interesting to see how things look next week, after all of the rain and snow. Things are looking up for western Kansas. Goodland, KS has received almost double the average precip so far this year. North east Colorado is looking good as well, along with my 2 acre field.
