Regardless of the roadside counts you can almost bet the WMA's will be down compared to the last two years. The relentless hunting pressure they have received during that period will eventually take it's toll. cr

As a side note: The roadside counts are primarily done along predetermined county road routes that border private property. The count normally doesn't include the WMA's which are typically block units which receive a tremendous amount of hunting pressure on top of the environmental impact on...

I prefer a shorter leash to start with for recall. Timing of the command is key. I want the response to the command and the results to be immediate by the dog coming to my side. Extend the distance as the compliance improves. It's easier to introduce the e-collar with the shorter leash as well...

If I remember correctly, the Wildlife Dept. tried stocking pheasants around the Keystone Lake management area back in the early 80's. Unfortunately they didn't close the stocked areas to hunting and the birds were promptly eliminated from the gene pool. cr

OKRev forgot to mention there is no public hunting access in the Lamont area or north central Okla for that matter. Private land and usually heavily posted. There are a few day hunt opportunities for a price ($75-$100) but they have seen lots of pressure by the third week of the season. Almost...
