It was not good. Saw one rooster out of shooting range and that was it. Really warm and dry.

Guys, I am looking at taking the wife out for a hike this weekend from the Denver area, and was wondering if anyone could suggest anywhere to go that might possibly hold some grouse. I figure if I'm out hiking I may as well take the dog and gun and see what we can get into. Thanks for any advice!

Cherry Creek res and Chatfield both have "Sport Dog" specific training areas, that you have to get a special permit for. It doen't cost extra, but it is not the regular off leash area, and you can use blanks and dead birds.

I'm always looking for someone to hunt with as well. I've got a 4 yo pointing lab that is stellar. I try to get out as much as possible. Not sure if I'll go opening day, as I prefer cooler temps, but if it's looking cold I'll probably head out.

USMC, good to hear you had a good day. I walked all around by Burlington on Rooster RoundUp properties, but didn’t flush anything. Saw a couple of birds off the road driving around. There is still a lot of standing corn, so maybe that is where they are hiding. Hoping for a better day tomorrow...

I'm going to head out saturday morning, and probably go towards Yuma. Was thinking about buying the Rooster Roundup info, but may stay away opening morning. Will be hunting alone with my lab. wouldn't mind hooking up with some others if you're around the area.
