May ditch the vest...belt opinions welcome.

I just received my Q5 belt and I think it's going to work well for me. Off the bat it is much more comfortable than the inexpensive one I used last year. Plenty of d-rings to attach my GPS. The only revisions I may make is to go with the magnum shell pocket and add a Gear Tether, but haven't...

    What Gauge to Buy?

I like the idea of having a backup and the convenience of buying 1 gauge of shell. I have a light weight Side by Side 12 and my argument to the wife is that I need another one just like it. Maybe her next husband will be the silver tongued devil that I am not.

    Tactics?

Quail have been difficult to pattern for me in Kansas, so many times I have been in what I was sure could only be quail cover, and a big ol' ringneck rooster explodes in my face! Pheasant Whisperer is right "let the dog out of the truck and follow it".

    A Little Chicken hunting

As odenney said that is one of the best photos I've seen, it captures a big part of the reason I hunt: Great Memories. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

    What are the best boots

I am a fan of the Danner boots as well. My model of choice is the Pronghorn Un-insulated. I hunt uplands birds from Nebraska to Texas and while the design has changed a little down through the years the comfort and traction have been consistent.

    Exercise regiment?

I am about five feet seven inches tall. On May 1, 2013, I weighed 218, I started what is popularly known as the Fast Diet. Basically eating only 600 calories two days a week, my "fasting" days were Tuesday and Thursday. On September 7, 2013 I weighed 178. On Tuesday/Thursday I would have a...

    User names

George Evans book "A Dog, A Gun and Time Enough". As a bird hunter it's the three things I want the most. I like my little side by side and hope to pass it on someday but the reality is it doesn't matter how much time I have with my dogs I will always want just one more hunt, one more day in the...

Has anyone volunteered to be a Guide at a Lodge

I have been approached twice by owner/manager of hunting preserves and I have turned both offers down. The safety issue was just too much of question mark.

dog wont leave yard birds alone?

It's a fairly common occurrence to look at the back window and see one of my Setters pointing a butterfly or grasshopper and the other three backing. It hasn't created problems in the field that I am aware of. Freaks the neighbors out but they are not bird dog people.

    Who I am

These are the types of threads/posts that are causing me to visit this board less and less frequently. I don't need anyone's permission to agree or disagree with an opinion, another person's accomplishments and/or experiences don't necessarily have any validity for my situation. I may be the...

    Red Label

Based on what I have read, I don't think Ruger could afford to bring the Gold Label back. They lost a ton of money on that gun. IF I remember correctly they had major issues with the light weight barrels. I bought mine for $1700 and the last one I saw NIB at Cabella's had a $3200 price tag on...
