Where I am located in Texas the best thing for both farmers and birds would be a return to the programs of the 80’s. Growers had to plant 1/3 in grain sorghum, 1/3 in row crop (cotton in my area) and 1/3 in set aside. Do that and increase crp payments by 30-50% to get absentee landlords...

On the south plains of Texas it goes for about $100 for irrigated but you’ll lose your rear growing cotton and peanuts, never mind Milo. And there’s not enough water for corn, even if it didn’t get to hot during pollination.

I’m so torn because it can be a really great program, although in my part of Texas it is trash because there’s too much lovegrass, but I’m also concerned about the national debt. ?‍♂️
