    Any tips for hunting Huns?

I agree on seeing them year to year in the same area. Last year was the first time I found them in a fallow corn field, and that was in ND. Usually we hunt them in the sage brush/grassy areas in WY and MT. Lot of times the closest ag land is many miles away.

Anyone want to trade a hunt

I'm interested in everything that people have mentioned. Really just interested in seeing some new country and meeting new people. The birds help too! The quail have me really interested. Send me a pm with a little info and a way to contact you and I will respond. Thanks, Mike

Anyone want to trade a hunt

That's really tough to answer. If I'm just chasing Huns and in the right area I'd expect to see a half dozen or so. In a good year I've seen over 20 different coveys in a day. Sometimes in the winter they bunch up and there can be a lot of them in a small area. Seen as many as 300-400 Huns in a...

Anyone want to trade a hunt

I live in the northeast quarter of the state. Been in this spot for 35 years. Hunted birds the entire time. Looking for something new. Anyone interested in trading bird hunting for quail or any other birds for Huns, chukars, sage grouse, pheasants ruff/blue grouse or sharptails? Let me know what...

    Any tips for hunting Huns?

Curious what others have learned about hunting Huns. Any tips? Mine is to drive the gravel roads at dusk. You will get an idea of how they are doing. Also I use a handheld gps and create a way point for every covey I find. They don't go far and will be there year after year. Good luck

Sunflowers, crack for sharptails, know it well. I run GSP's. They are big running dogs. Here's a tip if you hunt rougher country, use a tracking collar.

One thing that you will learn over time is that these birds know how to survive. They have a brain smaller than the size of a pencil. If you hunt only one way, or one type of cover you are missing out. There are few things that can be taken for granted with them. Their behavior sometimes seem...

    Hunting Montana

If you want to stay within seven hours of Denver, it will only get you to the Wyoming/Montana boarder. If you haven't hunted that country, I'd hire an outfitter and have him show you where to find birds. I think for some the big open country can look intimidating and confusing on where to...

    2016 sandhills grouse

Guess I've had some different experiences living and hunting in sharptail country for 55 years. Just downwind below a high ridge line can be productive on those days the wind blows hard. They will roost in those areas in the evening. Find the highest points in the area with cover and start...
