    Early Season Reports

Its a once a year rant out of me. This is a pretty mild one. But like was posted by others. Certain out of towners don't care. I drove 40 miles to hunt some private. By the way I am a local. Ground is not posted walk in right across the street. I show up to hunt. This fella is hunting the...

    Uninvited Blockers?

Im on the other side of the fence so probly not worth my comments. Im still confused why they knocked the wia fee in the head. They could take the extra 20 bucks of that and raise their rental rates to the landowner. I dont remember the cut offs but over like 300 acres u get a buck an acre. That...

Colorado Opener?? How did everyone do?

I am a local. I think there was a lot of people out!!!!! Success for yesterday was hit and miss. Today little snow on the ground slightly more upbeat. But we are way down on birds. But still at this point hard to get a really good feel with so many people out. More hens than I expected to see so...

    First SNOW

We ended up with about 6-8 inches of snow in the Yuma area. Everyone is in a pretty good mood with the moisture. Should help get all the winter wheat up. Corn harvest is going fast. Regular dig on sugar beets starts Tuesday last I heard. Hard to believe all of the harvests could be done by...

    High Plains Drought Monitor 2012

Still might be to early to tell. But our hatches look pretty lousy. When I see hens its usually one to two chicks or nothing at all. Josh Melby had a write up in the Yuma Pioneer a week or two ago about all the wildlife in general. His outlook was gloomier than mine. So for what its worth ur...

    Fun Fun Fun

Snipet; follows all of our state laws five man team one box of shells. First team to fifteen wins. If u dont get that many it progresses down. Next factor is if there is a tie. it boils down to shells left birds bagged and time. Hunt starts at 10 am and ends at 3. which those times make it...

    Fun Fun Fun

Well I havnt been out to much this season. We were in a wild bird pheasant hunting derby!!!! Which is a kick in the arse. Its a fund raiser for a local golf course. Funnest thing I have done!!!! Hunted all the planted bird things for a long time. It doesnt even compare to this deal. But anyways...

    Dryland hunting

Had an observation today. Im curious why so many people hunt around the fleming area instead of where there is more irrigation. Been pretty quiet lately where I have been working. Moved to fleming last night and seen probly more hunters than anywhere ive been. I know its saturday but just havnt...

    Second day hunting tomorrow

If it were me I would get closer to where irrigation is. Corn circles with habitat around the edges. That will increase ur odds by quite a little. Could be birds around last chance but pretty dry area typically.
