    Waterfowl opener

I will be headed out on Saturday but not Sunday. I put the finishing touches on my new boat blind today, so lets hope all goes well there. I'm just excited to hunt ducks on an opener before 9. Good luck to everyone. I will be headed somewhere in washington county but I haven't really narrowed it...

    Youth Waterfowl Day

I took some pictures with the camera on my phone to show his mom, but I'm not real sure how to get them on the computer. He is pretty pumped for duck hunting now, so I'm happy about that. I'm finishing up building my new boat blind and will hopefully have it ready to go for the opener!

    2011 Ruffed Grouse

This will be my first season hunting them with a pointing dog, so hopefully I will be reporting back in a few weeks with some sucess. I do alot of grouse hunting north of Grand Rapids and have had good luck the past few years, so it should be fun.

    Ground-poundin'

I would have to say I agree with the rest of you guys on this. I too have hunted with dogs my entire life. So, I think other than shooting a cripple, no where near my dog, it would not be my first reaction to shoot a bird on the ground. That being said I can see a dogless hunters point in...

    Youth Waterfowl Day

I took my young cousin out in the morning. Ended up with three mallards, and he had a great time, so it was a sucess. He has never waterfowl hunted, so it was neat for him to knock down the first green head thay decoyed.

    2011 Outlook

I'm over on the north end of Washington county and seem to be seeing more pheasants than normal for this area. It has me feeling a little optimistic. If i'm seeing them on a regular basis here then maybe the high population areas are doing just as well.

    Memories on Fathers Day

My dad had the same idea that many of your's seemed to have. I was given my first shotgun at around the age of 8 maybe. It was a small single shot 20 gauge and I was allowed a very limited number of shells. Before that I had my grandpa's old .22 and my dad would take me target shooting or...

    Quail for sale?

I got your email today, thanks. We have been out of town at a wedding for one of my wife's friends for the better part of the past week.

    Quail for sale?

I'm wondering if any of you guys know of a good spot to buy some quail? I was buying some through a guy on craigslist before but he doesn't seem to be selling them anymore. I live in Stillwater, so if you know of anyone in the area that would be excellent, but thats not real crucial. Thanks.

    Ruffed grouse cycle

The first real bird hunting I ever did was grouse hunting with my dad and one of our old springers. I was about 6 years old and was carrying a real old single shot 20 gauge.

    Ruffed grouse cycle

I have done very well over the years and have basically stoped paying attention to what the grouse "cycle" is at. Like what most of you have been saying, if you can find good grouse habitat in MN, chances are your're going to find some good hunting. I do most of my grouse hunting about 30 miles...

    I gotta switch dog food.

I feed my dogs native and they seem to do real well on it. It seems to be a pretty good price for what you are getting and I like the fact you can switch to the different levels. I used to feed nutrisource and liked that as well. I can't think of any problems I had with the nutrisource, but that...

The anti christ of upland bird hunting

I got a little chuckle out of that as well, Life is pretty darn good when that is at the top of the pet peeve list. This has been a pretty enjoyable thread to read. You would think with so many of us hunters sharing many of the same dislikes in the field there would be less and less of the...
