My group trip is scheduled for the 11-15th so I also hope them sloughs are froze to hold a guy up. Makes for much more enjoyable hunting. I will give a report on another thread when done

I am 47 and my dad is 75. Took him out hunting for 2 1/2 days this weekend, and he is a die hard like you warriors on here. I can only hope Ive got 30 more years in me to get after those wily roosters

Ive been out twice so far. Last Wednesday I snuck out local and got a limit at the golden (half) hour. Sunday, a group of 4 went west and saw a fair amount but mostly hens. We shot 1, and missed 1. Should have stayed closer to home I guess :)

I dont bow hunt anymore for deer, and in the past couple years I have given up the 2nd weekend of gun season here in MN. I figure if I cant shoot a deer with a rifle in 3 days, it wasnt meant to be. I take that Friday off and hunt ringnecks those 3 days and have more excitement leading up to...

Yes the area I was generally referring to was Willmar to Granite Falls. The crop insurance guys will be busy. There was water spurting up like a fountain out of field tile spots, Unreal what the man made ditches looked like. Further down by Marshall looked better

Not great for chick production, but I'm driving down Hwy 23 right now and holy smokes the rivers, drainage ditches, low areas of fields are incredibly full of water.

I agree with everything said here. If they put pheasant hunting at the crack of dawn I wouldnt even go out there, especially from rifle to muzzleload seasons, way too many dumbasses that are out with the buck fever.

Last year when we went out to our annual bird chasing trip we encountered 3 snow geese either dead or walking around stupidly like their brains were mush, wondering if we see the same thing this year. Nice fishing fella, I love it out there

My weekend will be filled up with other things, but Im already penciling Monday evening for the opener for me. Im sure they can wait until then!

They really did, it is a bummer my boy will not be able to participate in this next year with him turning 18, but I am considering going back next year to run the doggo for my niece and nephew. Its so fun to kick up birds when they are uneducated, and gets the dog sharpened up a little earlier...
