New to STL Area - Looking for Hunting Information

There used to be quite a few quail at Danville CA in Montgomery Co. and Marshal Diggs CA just north of there in Audrain Co. I did kick up a covey at Diggs last year

    Electronic Hearing Protection

Howard Leight, $40 on amazon, slim, compact, auto shut off. If I want more protection, I'll just wear a set of plugs also. Heck of a lot less than $300

Road hunting etiquette. Land owner and Hunter

After my first trip to SD this past season, I have to say that the great state of South Dakota does offer the out of state/non land owning hunter an awesome opportunity with the road hunting program. Two of us hunted first week of Nov. ,3 days, and had a great time. I always parked as far off...

    What am I missing?

I just got back from my first time ever. Hunted 3 days, 2 guys, no dog, hunted ditches only. Walked about 10 miles each day and ended up with 9, but it wasn't for lack of opportunity. We saw about 35 roosters and each missed about 10. Took us a day of hunting to figure out what to do and a lot...

    November

That was kind of the plan we were thinking, not set on Chamberlain either, will be coming in from the east on 90, so pretty much willing to stay anywhere along that route. Just looked like Chamberlain or Mitchell will have the better choices of the few places to stay. I picked Chamberlain...

    November

Our time frame is pretty open, but were figuring on avoiding the opening due to the number of guys out and thought first of November would work, plus I have to work around our deer season, mid November, and though the weather in December may be a bit harder to hunt. Or have I got that backwards?

    November

I'm also heading up there, Chamberlain, the first week of November, except my situation is two guys and no dogs. Aside from it being pretty much a peeing in the wind waste of time trip, what areas should we avoid given our situation? I'm not one to ask where I should go, or where the birds...

    First timer, when to go.

Lots of good info, thanks. looking at either opener or the next weekend, or anytime after Nov. 26th. That's last day of my firearms deer season.

    First timer, when to go.

I'm planning my first trip to SD for this fall/winter and aside from knowing it'll be a pretty big waste of time, [2-3 guys, no dog, and public land] what part of the season would be considered the least waste of time under our conditions? I'm considering any area from the SE corner up to...
