I agree with Birdshooter here, I use #5 if possible because it is the best of both worlds. If not #4 very few cripps.

I live near Hunter's Rose, Dale is a friend of mine. He has some of the best PL in the Mid-west. He has got the training of the PL down to a science too! I think he has titled 30 + dogs!!! Call him, if you live close check out his dogs. Let him or Rachel know you talked to Rocky.

South 40 Bird Hunter Boots I have owed a pair of the South 40 Russell boots for about 10 years. They are a triple vamp boot, I treat them with the waterproofing they suggest and I have not problems with wet feet! I grouse hunt and pheasant hunt in Michigan. Great boots and would buy them again!:D

tmrichardson- you are right on the steel, I shoot Winchester Xpert in steel and they are 1550 fps in #4 -12ga. Out of my Benelli M2 they are deadly on pheasant.

I was at Pheasant Fest 09 and I saw a plastic dog box that looked very nice. I can't remember the name of the company...I thought they are located In Iowa. The box was for two dog end to end with slide out drawers and a ramp. Can someone help me find the website or company?

I have Russel South 40 and love them! Had them about 8-9 years, most boots don't last 2 season with me...

Dakotazeb- I have used mushers secret here in Michigan it seems to work good just started last year. Had no problems with paws last year.:)
