Reports from Choteau were more birds than last year. Around Western Mt, pheasant numbers were off 20% from last year. We put up a fair number of hens but very few roosters.

Fish and Wildlife just put out a report for Western Mt and pheasant population lower than last year. Last year was bad and below average so guess this new report is terrible.

Good job with the gifts When I ranched in eastern Mt. we had goose and antelope hunters stop in and when they did our chores didn't get done very early with all the visiting. It was nice to see the same hunters stop in every year to visit.

Nice to see someone with birds Been out 3 days since opening weekend and cover lots of acres. Dog put up a total of 4 pheasants, 2 hens he pointed and 2 roosters flushing wild. My Griff hunts hard and its disgusting how our pheasant population never gets any better west of the divide.

Glad you found some birds in NE Mt. Been out 4 times in western part of the state and only put up 3 wild flushers. Been here 34 years and its the lowest pheasant populations i've seen.

I'm new but been on this site for several yrs but joined awhile back. Yep, been terrible smoke in the Mission Valley too. Scouting for birds in the valley has turned up very few. Lots of skunks,racoons and hawks. Been poor hunting last 4 years. Wondering if anybody has reports on...
