    Chicks

Sounds better than last season. All you you guys in West Kansas were pretty down on the hatch. My farming friends have all saying the same thing. Seeing more birds than the last few years

    Chicks

Not the tall, good-looking type. How's the hatch looking?. with the abundance of cover I'm hoping for a good hatch somewhere in Kansas. Not going to take your honey hole, just looking for some encouraging news

    Ringing in 2025 correctly!

Just wondering what part of the state you are in. Don't want GPS coordinates, just glad to hear that there are some wild birds in that heavy concentration.

    Opening Day in Kansas

I can remember when you had to get your motel rooms booked, for next season, the same day you checked out! Every restaurant had big hunters breakfast, gave free thermos fill up, and, if you weren't there30 minutes early, you had to wait on a table.

    Despite it all

After a two year health problem, I am able to go out and see what happens. Have some decent reports from the lo, and looks like the weather is going to be pretty good for the opening weekend.

    Thoughts of a OG

Very good information. Not sure where you are located, I know you are north of Dodge.. The pictures of where we hunt at, are weedy. 10 inches of rain will do that. I disagree about capture and release. How did the pheasant get here? They are a non native species. Sure, it will take numbers and...

    Thoughts of a OG

Like some of the other on here, I'm a long time upland hunter. Saw the best, during my life span, the 70's, early 80's. Never heard of CRP back in those days. Had plenty of weedy wheat stubble and nasty draws, and weedy ditches. Sometime in the mid to late 80's the population declined, drought...

    Chick Sightings?

Wheat stubble was./is the prefer nesting cover for pheasant. Any OG will tell you that. On the topic, got a real good report yesterday from the local sheriff out where we go. He told the LO that his part of the county had a real good hatch, but if you go to the other side of the county, not so...

    Chick Sightings?

Thanks for the reply. I have been in contact with a few different people, landowners, combine operations , and my son who travels through the Midwest. Pheasants are in very bad shape. The drought maybe the blame, but , if my old memory is correct, ones use to bounce back during a drought when...
