Bird numbers are definitely up some in NC Iowa. Went out on the family farm and kicked up 30 birds on Saturday. It was about a 50-50 mix of hens and roosters. On Sunday we hunted till noon and saw 8 roosters and 1 hen. Birds were really spooky and flushed way ahead for an opening weekend.
Anyone out there taking a kid out this weekend for youth season? I am our local PF Chapter Youth Coordinator and we are taking a group of 14 kids out for a pheasant hunt on Saturday. Should be a good time. Love to see kids get involved in the outdoors.
Received my Dan's chaps yesterday which i just ordered on Monday (shipping was quick). I will have to say they are the most comfortable chaps I have had. We will have to see how they hold up this fall. I have always had Filson chaps in the past, we will see how they compare.
Just ordered a pair of Dan's High and Dry chaps and was wondering if anyone has had a pair of these and how did you like them.
Does anybody know what the difference is between Dan's High and Dry chaps and Five Star chaps.
Bird numbers are up from last year and if the weather holds the majority of the corn should be out of the field by opener. Good luck and be safe in two weeks
New to the site. I have been chasing ringnecks around NC Iowa for 30 years. I love to hunt with my 6 year old lab, 1 1/2 year old GSP and my 15 year old son. Can't wait for the season to open here in Iowa
Talked to some farmers in NC area and they have been seeing more birds then they have in the last couple years while combining. Still a lot of corn in the field. If the weather holds most of it should be out by opening day.
