Anyone hunt pheasants in El Centro area?

Talked with the gent on the webpage before at Bass Pro - sometime towards the end of summer. Seems like a good guy. Seems like he loves hunting pheasant. Glad to hear that you had a great time out there. How were the birds themselves? They're planted, right?

Lost a hunting buddy last night

So sorry to hear, and sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I've been there, losing a good friend. Never forget, but time will heal.

    Rattlesnake Vaccine -Bad Reaction

I've heard about dogs reacting to vaccines in a similar manner before. My own developed a bump like you describe after his rabbies vaccine. It eventually went down (a couple weeks or more, if I remember correctly). Definitely was scary for a little while, as it was in a spot that was close to...

    pheasants

Let me know how it goes, wherever you go. I'll be heading out to the local places this year, as I won't be traveling to hunt. Bummer. In my opinion, a day in the field is still a great day.

    pheasants

There's a decent thread here: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=618671. It won't help you regarding Susanville (which is certainly closer to you), but it may have some small amounts of info on Lone Pine to assist. That said, you know as well as I, that we're not blessed with...

    mountain quail

I've been checking out a couple of the local pheasant places as well - Four Winds, Raahauges, a place down in Imperial County, High Desert Hunt Club...etc. Not sure what I'll get out to this year, but looking forward to it, nonetheless. The weather's been killer down low, so I can't say I'd be...

    mountain quail

Which preserve are you headed out to? The San Berdoos are doing well with the Mountain Quail. The dogs and I have been rustling up a lot of them outside of Arrowhead. Great looking birds.

Wow, a beautiful sight! Let's hope it keeps up (precip), and sends some to our friends in the midwest.

    Hot!

Fortunately, I'm enjoying a relatively "cool" Fourth, with temps in the mid-70's. Easy money.

    The great debate!

This is a trick question. Like your wife asking "does this make my butt look big." Better not to go there! Too many folks that are too passionate about their pups! We all love our pups, and for many different reasons. So long as we love them, then everything's all good.

Where are you heading this year?

Just hoping to get out! No solid plans, yet, as we're working on the family. So, that means I may be limited in trips. To ski or to hunt. That may be the question this year, as it's not looking like I can do extended getaways for both. Maybe a short weekend trip here or their for both...

how often to let pup out at night?

Personally, I'd keep going for a while longer. Any time the pup whines or fusses, take 'em out. It won't be much longer, really. That said, with the Vizslas, they just may want to spend some extra time with you! ;) Best of luck. Crate training is the way to go.

    fires in Col. springs

Without a doubt. I've got lots of friends out there, and we're saying prayers left and right. Hang in there.
