I mainly hunt pheasants but want my dog on them as quick as possible. So have never felt the need to steady them in fact the opposite is true.

I would focus on ditches close to picked corn fields. Preferably ones with good cover or that you have seen birds around.

Northwest all the land is e-posted, WPA's have been drained by oil companies. Phez, Sharps, and huns all killed by hail. Population is up in Pembina of course!

I have the WW and I can load a bird with one hand while still holding my gun and looking for bird #2.

Just go to On X and go under private land and it will show you all the spots. I am assuming not all allow hunting but at least you can find them and look for signage.
