    How was the opener

, Why would you be mad if a farmer mowed his/her CRP? If they did mow it, they either had permission from the feds or its been withdrawn. It's none of our business what they do. And hunters wonder why land owners don't like hunters on their property. Good luck on hunting your public...

    Holyoke deer

Drew my non-resident Holyoke tag for this fall. You can use this backdoor formula to find out if you drew a tag. https://www.gohunt.com/read/skills/how-to-navigate-colorado-early-backdoor-draw-results

    2017 Drought Monitor

I was out in Holyoke last week. Roads were sloppy wet and that was before this last snow storm. Saw several pheasants alongside the road. Also saw a couple bucks just starting to get their head gear.

    Holyoke deer

Going to use my 7 non-resident deer points for a unit 98 rifle tag this fall. I've already got 2 land owners who are going to help me get a deer. We saw several nice bucks in the CRP while pheasant hunting last fall. Anyone else ever hunted out there before? I'll be hunting the edge of the...

    Finished until next fall

Thanks Sure miss the bird hunting out in Holyoke, but don't miss your snow. It was clear and around 90 here today. Hopefully the birds have an easy winter and good moisture for nesting this spring. Here's some Dorado we caught this morning.

    Opening Day

Heading to Holyoke tomorrow to hunt for 3 days. Hopefully this storm brings some snow Thursday night. We hunted last weekend and saw lots of birds and lots of deer. Hoping to call some coyotes also.

    Forever Pointing Pheasants

Sorry for your loss. It's terrible to lose a companion like that. I had Chessies my entire life and when we had to put down our last female, it was so tough on everyone that I said I'd never go through that again. That was 2 years ago and I still can't bring myself to get another pup.

    Hail

I just saw pictures from the hail out by Ovid yesterday. I feel bad for the farmers. The corn is just a solid stalk. No leaves left. It was so thick it looked like 6 inches of snow. The weather report I saw said they were egg sized hail. I imagine the pheasant casualty was also very high.

    Merry Christmas from Alaska

Yep, here in snowy Homer. There used to be quite a few pheasants around but then we had a couple severe winters and that about did them in. In the spring you still can hear a few crowing but we are getting hit pretty hard again this year. Keep the posts coming, makes me wish I could get more...

    Merry Christmas from Alaska

Merry Christmas to all you Colorado rooster hunters. I only get to hunt for a couple days a year in Phillips county and I enjoy reading your posts the remainder of the year. Be safe out there and good shooting.

    Any New Updates Colorado?

I was out last week. Only could hunt half a day. Saw lots of birds and they were holding tight. I'm hunting private land though. Birds were in the sunflowers. It was nice to see quail again. Jumped 2 coveys. Talked to the game warden and she said the best hunting was south of Haxtun. I'm...
