    Encounter with a wildlife officer

I was actually in the same situation a few years ago in Missouri. Was followed down gravel road that led to hunting spot, got out with my gun and lights came on from WO. Said that someone had been seen poaching evening before and they wanted to see if I knew anything, and had permission to...

    Question about BILBY

The update: Went up to bilby saturday afternoon. Dog, who is really out of shape I might add and that is my fault, did not appreciate the snow and ice covering the grass. The corn is still in, which is probably holding a crap ton of birds, so it was slower than normal but my dog did get a nice...

    Question about BILBY

Thanks for the advice, I was just looking through the area regulations and it says that Bilby is only open to deer hunting using bows or muzzle loaders. I have a close working dog and am planning on adding some orange to her so I think I can put the brakes on her before she would interupt to...

    Question about BILBY

OK, my poor neglected bird dog has still not been given the opportunity to hunt yet this year (getting crops in, busy at work, stupid deer season that was easier to get a tan than a deer, life, etc.). I can no longer take her death stairs and sadness because I'm sure she can read a calender and...

    Preserve Hunting

Campbell, I'm doing the same thing as you this year. I bought a ks license last year and used $300-400 on gas, food, etc. and got two quail. They tasted good and all but the per pound food cost is a little steep for me. I also feel bad for my dog when she works her butt off running god knows...

Moving to Kansas City area- Help

try platte county Hey, I'm from a little north of KC on the MO side and if you want to stay close to KC but still have more rural setting look at the Platte County area. I-29 runs right into KC and doesn't take long to get pretty much anywhere in KC. Outside of Platte City home prices...

Would you hunt pheasants in a wind farm?

Id rather hunt a wind farm on a 30 degree day with a little niose in the background then a chunk of CRP/ grassland during a blizzard. Actually both are OK with me if they have birds. I live in Missouri, beggars cant be choosers. American jobs are better than sending our money to people who...

    had a blast....regardless

Any day hunting/ watching the dog work beats the holy heck out of working. There was good days and less good days but I tried this year to judge my hunts more on the experience than the bird count. Hoping for a good hatching season this year, especially in MO and NE kansas. I'm hoping to take...

    Bilby Ranch

Bilby always looks like it is managed pretty well for phez. I used to go to Happy Holler CA (another "Quail Emphasis" area) and don't remember actually pointing a bird there. I wish MDC would look at SD's model and put more of an emphasis on upland hunting, besides putting labels on CA's that...

    Bilby Ranch

had a nice little 2 hr hunt this morning. Dog got two nice hen points. Hunted well but she still hasnt quite figured out the running roosters yet. Not a bad way to finish of the 11-12 hunting season. Keeping fingers crossed for both MO and KS to have great nesting years so next year we can...

Hello fellow missourians, Headed up to bilby tomorrow am if anyone would like to join. How are the birds to anyone who has been there lately. I'm sure the weather has screwed stuff up the last couple of weeks but sunday is coming fast so I'm giving it a shot anyway. Ross

    griff pup

Hello, I'm starting my search for a griff pup. I'm an avid hunter and in the next 1-2yrs will be purchasing a pup. Some questions:1) What price range am I looking at for a decent bred pup. Nothing wow but well bred that should do the job if I do mine. 2) what type of range am I looking at...

    Stoeger Condor

Ive only had mine for about 4 months now but really like it. I'm a teacher so buying a "nice" gun would cost me my house and shortly after that my marriage. Love the way it shoots and I think my new one even looks pretty good.
