    Lodging Options? - North Central

Always seem to forget about Clear Lake, and it really isn't all that far from the area I'm targeting. Nice places to eat there and neat town. I may just need to stay there this time. Good suggestion. Eager to see if the new "R motel" allows hunters with dogs, will stay tuned. Regards, Joe

    Keokuk County Iowa

Seeing is Believing I'm always a little more upbeat if I at least see something when I head out, even if the bag is lighter than I'd like. Glad to hear you are getting into them out there. Regards, Joe

    11-10-2012 East of DSM Hunt

Last taste of "summer" Sure was warm out there, but that's November in Ioway. Sounds like a gr8 day-makes me jealous. :D My son and I took some old furniture to the dump this afternoon-broke a sweat unloading the truck-how's that for comparision? Awesome picture, love the...

    Watertown Area Bird #s

Thanks Fellas! Appreciate the "boots on the ground" perspective, guys. I suppose if I decide to make the longer drive to this part of SD, I would look at it as an opportunity to experience a new state and gain some new perspectives, enjoying the journey so to speak. Nothing wrong with that...

    Watertown Area Bird #s

Not looking for specifics, just general info on what you guys are seeing out there, those with boots on the ground. I have the maps and will spend a day scouting around if I decide to make the trip. Struggling with whether I want to take a 2-day trip to SD or focus my efforts within Iowa (take...

    East Central Report - 11/9

Worked so many hours this week, I was a little ahead of the game, so I bailed early and decided to hunt. Didn't get home as early as I was hoping, so I decided work the close-in options and headed south a little bit to hunt a piece of public county ground down in Johnson County along the Cedar...

    Lodging Options? - North Central

All, Debating on whether I head to Spirit Lake next week or cut it a little closer and hunt just west of the I-35 corridor between Belmond and Forest City. I have had boots on the ground in both areas over the years and have had decent hunting in both regions. Would prefer to head further...

    East Central Report

Muskrat Slough Its no secret fellas, we hunted the south end of Muskrat Slough. Very dry over there, just a a trickle of water in the ditch draining out the north side, and 2 of the three birds we saw were in that narrow strip surrounding the old railroad ROW gravel that runs east-west. I...

    East Central Report

Was originally hoping to head about an hour west of Cedar Rapids metro this weekend in an area in line with higher DNR counts, but mandatory family activities Saturday morning had me decide to stay closer to home. My son and I hunted public about 20 min east of our acreage in Jones Co as our...

    Brown vs Yellow WIHA?

Luck of the draw... Not sure yet; but done about as much HW as I can without getting boots on the ground. Probably going to write down these towns each on their own piece of paper, put them all in a bag, shake it up, and draw the winner: Wakeeney, Osborne, Ness City, Oberlin

    Brown vs Yellow WIHA?

I hear ya, just trying to see if there was anything to it. Buddy and I are gonna try for a scouting/hunting trip sometime next month for a few days.

    Brown vs Yellow WIHA?

What is the difference other than the date you can access it? Since the brown is earlier, does that typically mean is more likely CRP or pasture, while the yellow is probably active row crop land? Am I reading too much into it?
