    Firewood

Beautiful Daly. The engraving is as nice as the wood. I shoot Ithaca side by sides for pheasants. I especially like the hammer guns.

How to retrieve birds without a dog

I agree with this 100%. Why shoot at any bird that you don't have very high odds of recovering? A dog gives you that advantage.

2018 Favorite Pictures of Your Guns, Birds and Game

Got back from Ideal SD yesterday morning. Left a day early to prevent getting stuck in the snow. Bird counts are okay but they were very edgy. We scared many before we could get a shot. Great trip as always though. This is a 1902 Ithaca Lewis grade 3 in 12 gauge.

    Choke selection

I'm with Oscar on this all the way. I like #5 copper plated in an open choked gun. I can see possibly choking as tight as modified with #7-1/2 but I really like the way #5 patterns out of my skeet and IC chokes. And I like the way #5 drops birds.

16 gauge; It really is a illness

mutthunt... I second this recommendation. I lucked into my 1980 field grade Citori in 16 for $750.00. It was cut down and had a morgan pad on it and is well used but it is a great gun. That Franchi looks like a winner too. My son has a Franchi semi auto in 12 for ducks and it's a performer...

16 gauge; It really is a illness

Nice to see you over here Eric. A few of the guys over on SGW hunt but a lot don't. You need to be over here to get the habitat information. I'm bringing my 37's with me this year (in 16 gauge of course). The Fiocchi #5 copper plated shells (Golden Pheasant) cycle great in the M37 and really...

16 gauge; It really is a illness

I was lucky and got this one at a live auction last year for $300 in really nice original shape. I took it to South Dakota.

16 gauge; It really is a illness

Great description of the Model 90. It is a blue collar gun for sure. Oil finish, filed rib, nice bluing. The other thing I love about mine is the double triggers. I wish my Citori had that feature.

16 gauge; It really is a illness

I couldn't have said it better myself. My 16 gauge guns all weigh under 7 pounds. My 1941 Ithaca 37 and 1925 Ithaca sxs are both really close to 6 pounds even. And with #5 copper plated lead, the pheasants don't fly far.

16 gauge; It really is a illness

Thanks for pointing that out... it is a fact based opinion... I just didn't want to start any arguments with the 20 and 28 gauge guys. And to you jalinkly, that is a nice selection of 16's. I have a plain jane Citori in 16... I'd love to get some higher grade wood for it like your Gran...

16 gauge; It really is a illness

Agreed but just wait till you get into pump guns, over unders and side x sides... I have a a couple of each! Only one semi auto though. 1939 Savage 720... the poor man's A5. The 16 is the best gauge for pheasant, in my opinion.

Sorry for the loss of your friend. It's a good thing you are doing for the family by spreading the word about the auction. Hopefully they get top dollar for everything.
