    Last Hoorah!

    We had a good day Friday in the wind, our pheasant hunt turned into a quail hunt! Two of us with two dogs shot 10 quail and 5 roosters. On Saturday we shot 3 roosters and there were hunters everywhere! Birds were very wild, as you might expect!

    You also have to keep in mind the wind. I hunt pheasants with a lab and into the wind I like them 40 yds or less.     When to get a new dog

    In our house two dogs does not go over well with the spouse. Therefore when my current dog starts to slow down (usually 8 to 10 yrs) then i start with a new puppy. The last time i did that my old dog (golden) lived to be 15!

    Roughly 2.5 hours east to walk in public hunting in CO and if you drive another hour you can hunt public walk in in KS or NE. :cheers:
