McFarmer... Thanks for the reply about picking up empty’s. I really wish we respected the WIA’s a little bit more. We lost some of my best areas this year, and I hate the idea that my daughters might not be able to hunt the same way that I’ve been able to. I think we do a decent job, but...

    Pick up your empties!!!!!!

Im getting sick of walking on private land WIA’s and picking up empties from inconsiderate hunters. CO’s walk in areas are primarily private land, pick up your g*d d@#n empties so we don’t lose more land from the landowners. This should be common decency, but obviously it’s not. Rant over.

I'm jealous. I REALLY want an LC Smith in 16. As it stands, I have a Griffin and Howe Arrietta 12 bore with 29" barrels coming my way. I didn't need the gun but it belonged to a close friend who passed away in October. I'm Buying it from his wife and can't wait to shoot it. Should be a...

    Best $1500 O/U Field Gun...

By far, the best bang for the buck will be a Miroku. Miroku makes many of the Brownings, but due to their relationship, they don't import Miroku named guns in the US. Easily the quality of the B guns at half the cost...

It's an expensive addiction! Haha. BTW. I can kill any upland bird with my 1923 LC Smith 20ga Trap Grade with 26" barrels and RST's. I shoot their 2 1/2" 7/8oz #5's at 1125fps for pheasants, and 7 1/2's for quail. RST makes very good shells at a very reasonable price.

Don't do it. Buy a new fancysmanshy super dupper semi auto! BELIEVE me, once you go down the old double gun rabbit hole you won't be coming back. We recently had this discussion at pheasant camp as we looked over our LC Smiths, Parkers, etc. Your about to embark on a sickness that can only...

Good dog to pair with a Brit

IMO there is no such thing as a dog that "needs" a horse. What they need is training. I sold a Brittany I bred to a guy who really wanted a pup from my litter. . I told him up front the dog wouldn't be like any other Brittany he's ever had (both parents are GFC All Age trial dogs), and that...

Good dog to pair with a Brit

Don't believe what those people tell you!! I have a feeling they've never owned a Brittany from field trial lines, and they are only perpetuating the myth. With that said, Brits DO need exercise on a regular basis. If they don't get that, they will be wild in the house.

First time hunting CO, Blues or Roosters?

Hunted blues and had a blast. Just enough action to make me want to go back again and again. Cant seem to size the pictures down however.

First time hunting CO, Blues or Roosters?

Monday will mark the first day i can get out to hunt birds in CO. I'm planning on either hunting the NE for pheasants or searching for some blues in the South central part of the state. Anyone have any suggestions? I'll be driving from Castle Rock hunting over my Brittany.

    Brittany pup / started dog

Just got back from watching my young dog run at summer camp, and dropping my field trial/hunting dog off. Pheasant numbers are looking pretty good in SD from the looks of it. Here's some videos of us running dogs. The last video is of my dog. Doesnt look like she's missed a beat after 4...

    Brittany pup / started dog

Here's my recent pup when she was 5 months old on birds. This is what I'd expect from any young Brit who has been introduced to birds. http://youtu.be/T2GSDVHqncc

KS. Beautiful Brit. His old? Definitely looks like it's time to get it on some birds.

    Brittany pup / started dog

Luckily the great Brits know the difference between trialing and hunting, and range accordingly. Many also spend all their summers in SD hunting wild pheasants, chickens, and Sharptails. I know for a fact that you can take a well bred trial Brit that's perfectly happy at 500-700 yards off...
