    16 ga. Leather Ammo Belt

That is an excellent price! They list for around $200 on the Levy's Leather website. I looked on Amazon for a large in 20 ga., but they only have med and Xlrg. Just my luck. JLMyers

Mid season report (everyone asking where to go... report if you went)

We hunted south central NoDak October 22-28. Bird numbers were down compared to last year. We got into plenty of birds. We killed more birds and had more opportunities (flushes in front of pointed birds) compared to last year. All the birds we harvested were young. A couple birds were just...

    Opener ???

I think Lazlo has been hunting at his place in Zeeland for the past week. He should be back soon and have a report for us. I hope. I'm headed up that way on Friday. JLMyers

    Training Birds

Check "Michigan pheasant hunting" under the directory for this site. I've heard that you can get birds from the Dundee Pheasant farm near the Cabela's. Good luck! JLMyers

    Fibre Wads

I used these shells in my 20 ga. O/U that is back-bored and ported all the time for quail and they perform well. The fiber wad and soft shot in this shell might not be the best, if you are looking for a shell that can really reach out there and knock down a pheasant. Hope this helps, JLMyers

    Dog food survey

I've used those and a similar product by Techmix during week long hunting trips to the Dakotas. My Brits like them and they are convenient. It makes me feel good to provide them with a few extra calories throughout a long day in the field. I don't have any definitive evidence that they...

    Field Trials

I would second Zeb's recommendation to check out NSTRA field trials. They are pretty close to most folks bird hunting experience - a hunter walking behind a dog that finds, points, and retrieves gamebirds. The fields are small enough that you can often watch the trial from a gallery or ride...

    where to get birds??

I would check around to see if you can get pigeons locally. If you are looking for birds that you will plant once and shoot or release, one option is to check at local flea markets. I've seen them for sale for $5 or less. Don't get homers or fancy pigeons they run pretty high. I've had...
