    Faulk County Report

Hunted private land in Faulk county the 22nd - 25th. Numbers are definitely down but still had a great time actually hunting pheasants rather than just shooting into a sky filled with roosters...All beans were out (at least in our areas) and most of the corn was out (probably 80% out). Sat -...

    Resident Opener-any reports ?

Man, 12% that's hard to believe...must be making up for the last couple of years - either uber dry or wet - sounds like here in Indy. Orient huh, we usually hit the Orient for dinner at least a couples times while we're there, if we're not at the Steak-Out in Faulkton. Most of our hunting is...

My father-in-law farms and there's a covey or two of bobwhites scattered around his land my lab & I work every...

Can Anyone Help Me Out ?

Hey Fred - I am from Greenfield and a group of us go out to Faulkton SD every year to hunt some private lands. Unfortunately we're not heading that way until 10/22 or we could maybe meet up and hunt some together...I agree with the others - afternoon ditches are pretty sweet if public lands are...

    Dog waterer for the field

JMc - that's a good idea and I've got a least two of those small coolers at home, I could def make one my "waterer". I also carry water bottles while in the field. It's nice to put something on the ground for her to drink out of when we get back to the truck, while we're gathering and recounting...

What shotguns are you hunting with?

Bleu - beautiful gun there - very jealous! Mine is an 870 Wingmaster 12g - that is going to be handed down to my son on his first SD trip next year. Replacement will be either Rem 1187 or similar semi-12g

    How to heat water?

Very interesting article gsp - I am def going to start looking up somemore info on this. I am familiar with aged beef but I have never heard of "resting" or aging your birds before, but i am fairly new to the bird game (4-5 yrs). I have already forwarded this on to my hunting buddies and will...

    Dog waterer for the field

@ zeb - yeah, those look like pretty much the same idea (gravity fed) and better than $55 for sure - I'll try and find one here locally if I can. You know anytime something is "diamond plated" the price is automatically inflated - oh well. @ gsp - I hear ya, whenever I get my waterer I'll just...

    Dog waterer for the field

I've done some searching on here and some other places online and can't seem to find what I am looking for...so here goes my shot at trying to describe it and see what happens - a gentleman I have hunted with a couple of times in Faulkton SD (he lives in/near Huron I believe) has a waterer for...
