How close do you need to be?

I wanted to bump this up. I have 11/7-18 and any time from 11/26 on available. Hunters seem to be doing well.

From what I saw today, from Tripp to Armour to Platte, the beans are almost done. I would think corn will be in full swing next week.

I had 5 groups stay at my place in Platte between 10/20-11-21. I would say they did from good to excellent depending on experience and a few windy days. Some had a bit of a learning curve but finished well. I think all but one group was hunting PL and ROW's.

Almost all my hunters did quite well. One group of 4 limited every day. Others had more of a learning curve but finished well. I have 2 more groups coming yet.

Thanks for the tip on Mad Mary's. We ate there the last 2 nights (!) and the ribeye and prime rib are among the best I've ever had. And I was born and raised on steak.

Seems there should be plenty of opportunities around Francis Case.

I will have had 4 groups of hunters staying at my place in Platte by then, 60 mi sw of Mitchell. I should have a pretty good idea about that area by then. I wouldn't be surprised if someone says nw is a better direction to go.

I have a guest traveling from Chicago to Platte next week for hunting. It sounds like he plans to take I-80/29/90 (+ 1 hour, 70 miles) where I would exit I-29 at Vermillion and take Hwy 50 (more or less). I don't feel that confident of his map skills to send him off on two lanes (gps...

Shorty's has gotten to be a pretty good all around place. Good breakfast, burgers to steak for dinner w/ salad bar.

The bowling alley just closed for the same reason. Help is hard to find. The little ice cream shop has been having a breakfast buffet and some lunches on the weekend. I don't know if he stays open when it gets cold, though.

Fellow from Chicago just booked 10/19-25. This just might work out ok.

I currently have it reserved for 10/30-11/2 and 11/12-11/14. Booms Drive-In is good, too, and Shorty's has a good breakfast and a pretty good dinner.

The house is in town. I think hunting is pretty fair there.
