Bummer
I have not driven NorthWest but have family that direction. We all know what one or two standing fields of corn can do to a section. My reasons here are moisture and elevator waiting lines, etc. Reasons can vary from location to location.
Wondering
Traveled down I-35 today to Indianola. I saw Lots! of corn still standing. This week will need to really pick up if we expect to see the opener with most of the corn out.:p
Nice work!
Nice job on the opener guys. Everyone is vying for less and less land. Patience and persistence is the key. I have folded many a rooster after a group or groups have left a parcel of land for the day.:p
I have two weeks yet before the Iowa opener! How fortunate you Minnesota...
Agreed!
Same here. Have been seeing some increase in predator kills--and some natural die off due to cold and deep snow.:(
As we all know the predators don't kill according to sex. I expect some decrease in my area as well due to the deep snow and lack of suitable habitat.

Iowa
Here in Iowa we have blaze orange requirements for both upland hunting and deer hunting.
It has saved lives!:) Especially those instances where running deer are shot at in hunting groups and low-flying pheasants in group hunting situations. The majority of our hunting accidents here are...
Right back atcha!
I am happy your first full season as a full-time Iowan was a good one IA at heart!
The season ends like it comes in. . . at the tick of the clock. It is on to other projects now for me. Sophie will get some training work and some much needed rest. On a few of the cold...
Thank you!

Thank you!
Thank you Riverhunter55 and IA at heart,
I do love my times with Sophie in the field. We have completed our third year now and time for both of us to put a little fat back on. I have dropped an inch of waist and Sophie is down 4 lbs at this point. I am sure many of you experience...
Thank you!
Thanks Miforester,
I do love the bird and sharing the hunts with everyone!:) Birds this time of year are true trophies as none of them come easy.
You are looking at a wet, tired, but very content hunter after a little over 4 miles logged in the fields today.
Sophie and I began our journey on public today. We worked two hen points and noticed numerous tracks. Reaching the field edge provided our first indication of the residents--seven...
Thanks!
Hugo53, Trazz63 and Riverhunter55,
Thank you for the kind words for our service people. He is a marine and we are quite proud of him!:)
He harvested two birds that day and as he states--California has no birds--so he was very happy to have gone after Iowa roosters.
I believe hunting...
