    Dog Vest or No Vest?

My dogs have always worn vests - neo when I hunted waterfowl or a protective vest while pursuing upland birds. I would never think of hunting without appropriate protective gear - I wear brush pants & my dog comes first when it comes to priority. My dogs have worn Mendota Skid Plates for the...

    Very disapointed in Sportsman!!!!!

I have never had the opportunity to hunt in SD & likely never will, but I am both shocked & sorry that you were subjected to those experiences at the hands of fools. I am relieved that no one was hurt and hope the authorities slap the offenders with some serious jail time for their transgressions.

    poly choke

I bought an old Model 37 with a Poly Choke on one of the 2 barrels with which it came many years ago. I absolutely loved that thing - back in the lead shot waterfowling days, it accounted for many a long goose, although there was nothing pretty-looking about the thing. Still have it - I just...

Heart Attack Survivors - Any Tips?

My heart attack occurred some 8 months before bird season, but it wasn't as severe as yours. I was back to normal activities fairly quickly. I always have low-dose aspirin in my first aid kit that I carry. Now that I am 68, I have slowed down a bit & don't hunt nearly as hard as I used to do.

Heart Attack Survivors - Any Tips?

As previously stated, sorry to hear of your travails & godspeed for quick recovery. I experienced a heart attack 18 years ago (at 50 years of age). I hunted birds & big game that year but paced myself & eventually gave-up big game hunting due to my knees & age, not because of the heart issue. As...

Truck cap or no truck cap? Pros and Cons

As stated above, toppers have real advantages when it comes to storing equipment. In my case, they also offer disadvantages, since I use my truck as a truck year-'round. If you have no need to routinely haul things that won't fit under a canopy, a topper would be a fine option. Personally, my...

    truck vs rv

Truck. I was raised in Montana & up until the time that I was able to afford my own 4WD rig, I got stuck a lot during hunting season. Taking an RV is a recipe for disappointment.
