    Opening weekend hunt Mitchell

Sounds like a great opportunity for a group on the ropes with nowhere to hunt. I say this because the price isn't exactly cheap. Sometimes you get what you pay for though. I think most of us know the inherent risk associated with hunting in large groups. You just need to decide if you want to...

    front paw wound

I have some stuff called pad guard that I've used in the past. You spray it on and it dries in about a minute. It sounds to me though that your dog's wound may be more severe than mine's was as she never needed stitches. The stuff might help it though you never know. The website for the...

    springer or brittnay

I have never seen dogs hunt harder than springers save english pointers. My springer is hyper but is a natural hunter and great family pet. Do you use protection?

If by chance you do ship your dog by air make sure you know all of the airline's rules. I work for a major airline and you used to be able to sedate your dog prior to travel. Now it is not permitted on our airline. The reason I say this is that you seemed worried about the dog's willingness to...

    Eye Position While Shooting

First let me preface this by saying that I am far from a great shot. Every person must do what works for them but if you think about it when you point at something with your finger you probably don't close an eye. Shotguns likewise are pointed and not aimed like rifles. I keep both eyes...

    Pheasant survey is out

I think we went down this road last year. Some people just can't grasp the fact that a hunt is about more than bird numbers. It's about getting together with friends, watching the dogs work and hopefully shooting a few birds. I would rather hunt wild birds, but if sheer numbers are what matters...
