    WOW!!!

It’s not all doom n gloom. However the public hunters are going to have to really work for their birds. We got up yesterday to kinda get a game plan. Walked a couple WPA’s and GMA’s. No grass at all, the cattails are wet. Some min Maint roads impassable. It’s still going to be better than...

    And the survey says ...

jeez, I'm 23 hrs. Can leave at 5am on Thursday morning. Pull over catch me about a 5hr nap in Sioux City or somewhere close, wake up and drive a couple hrs and be hunting at 10am on Friday!!!! Do that same routine 3 times each fall. If Iowa keeps on their current trend I'll be one happy camper.

    Phez appetizers

My neighbor gave me 4 pheasants. He asked me to make an appetizer for his football party Saturday. Besides poppers does anyone have a favorite app that will be a sure fire hit?

    Emergency haying.

Guys with local knowledge, how much emergency haying (EH)has already taken place? I remember pulling into one of my favorite public spots a few years ago, and it was all mowed. I’ve read some reports of EH taking place. Just wanted to confirm, or rebute the doom n gloom reports. Don’t...

    Southeast SD vs Iowa

100% agree with water dog. I hardly ever have competition in SD on public land. Iowa I encounter other hunters at probably 80% of the spots I try.

Is SD shooting itself in the foot?

I would gladly pay $25 for a habitat stamp. Especially if it is used to purchase more habitat. It saddens me to see post where people complain about SD declining bird numbers. Remember the ring neck pheasant is a non native species, it’s remarkable that it has thrived and continues to offer a...

    Let’s hear about opening day

Opening weekend By far best opener for our group in 6 years. Son had his 3 roosters by 1pm. I missed the first 3 before righting the ship. Took me to 3pm to get my birds. My pops took all day but we managed to get him his birds as well. He stays real close to the rd, if not on it...

    SE Iowa help

Maybe so, but I guarantee the odds of the pup finding a rooster are greater there than Central South Carolina. Hey if it’s awful I’ll head NW. I’m off all week and it’s bird season.
