    Season Assessment

Been spectacular for us. Every morning if I could shoot better I would have limited out in about 1 mile of walking. Been a long time since I have seen 30+ Bird flushes in several differrent areas of the state. Had a buddy that just hunted Sd and he was even impressed.

    Opening Weekend

Enjoy it at anytime Bird numbers can plummet with no water. We have tons of great habitat, we just need water. This here was an old cagey bird in Weedy Wheat stuble that has not been replanted for 3 years.

I am referring to Sw Kansas but I have family in Ness we hunt their ground and still get into Birds. Year around water is the key.

Bird Buster, There are limits to be had every day. It is not as easy as it use to be but there are plenty of birds considering. Early in the year it was the best I have seen the area look in 15 years, then the lack of rain for months dispersed the birds from nesting areas to center pivots...

You would be pleasantly surprised at the cover if you hunted the area Thick stands of wild Sunflowers, Crp and Russian thistle mix that in with volunteer wheat and Milo and there are thousands and thousand of acres in Sw to hunt from Montezuma to Elkhart

Plenty of Habitat, plenty of Birds in this area. Largest flush had over 40 birds. I did walk alot with two dogs but every place we hunted kicked up birds. Make sure there is some sort of water near, cattle pond or solar well

    Brittany Pup

Great Bloodline, whelped 11-14-2023. Parents are both fantastic hunters. Level headed pup in the above average range of weight. Shots current. Asking $400 ( he was sold but buyer had to back out as wife said no ) his loss your gain as my pups generally go for $1000.00

    Crop weed killer killing chicks?

I just mentioned a report done in the field for others to digest as they are fact based studies not just opinions. Good news is I have been seeing a lot on hens this year, this in turn gives me hope for a better hatch next year.

    Crop weed killer killing chicks?

False read the report the study was done in prime habitat with cover crops and Crp. Are there areas void of birds with subpar habitat yes. There are also large, very large chunks of land with great habitat with no birds. Yes habitat is very, very important but when you have water, food, plum...

    Crop weed killer killing chicks?

I will just go by the K State study that names Raptors during the spring migration as the number one killer of hens. No hens, no eggs, no chicks.

    2022 Forecast Is Out

Here is what to expect. From I-35 west. Milo is cut and stalks are all getting baled. Corn is getting cut and stalks are getting baled. Crp has already been baled. Most winter wheat has not been drilled. The stuff that was drilled came up and is now dead. Every inch of feed is needed due to the...
